Santa Fe, New Mexico — The family of Texas comptroller candidate Don Huffines purchased Jeffrey Epstein’s former Zorro Ranch in New Mexico, according to property records and reporting from The Guardian and the Santa Fe New Mexican.
A spokesperson for Huffines, a self-described “Trump Republican” and former GOP state senator, confirmed that the Huffines family acquired the nearly 10,000-acre ranch in 2023 through San Rafael Ranch LLC. The property was previously owned by Epstein, who died in 2019 while facing federal sex trafficking charges. Court records cited by the Santa Fe New Mexican connect the LLC to Mary Catherine Huffines as “client/property owner.”
Family spokesperson Allen Blakemore said the ranch was bought at public auction four years after Epstein’s death and that proceeds benefited victims. He added the family had not visited the property before it was listed.
The ranch, once assessed at $21.1 million for tax purposes, was later reassessed to $13.4 million following an appeal citing its “notoriety.” Guardian reporting previously detailed how the property was allegedly used in Epstein’s abuse of underage girls and visited by prominent figures.
Huffines, currently polling as a frontrunner in the GOP primary, has not publicly outlined plans for the property.
