Federal prosecutors announced the arrest of a Dallas man who allegedly used TikTok to solicit individuals to kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Eduardo Aguilar, 23, a Mexican national residing in the U.S. illegally, faces charges of transmitting a communication containing a threat in interstate commerce, which could lead to a maximum sentence of five years in prison if convicted.
According to court documents, the FBI was alerted to a TikTok video posted by Aguilar on October 9. The video allegedly featured an image of the Dallas skyline with Spanish-language text that read, “I need 10 dudes in Dallas with determination who aren’t afraid to,” followed by two skull emojis. Prosecutors claim this was a clear invitation to murder ICE agents, with Aguilar purportedly offering a bounty of $10,000 for each agent killed.
Investigators quickly traced the social media account back to Aguilar, who was arrested shortly after. During a federal court hearing on Wednesday, he was denied bail and remains in custody.
Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy E. Larson condemned the threats against law enforcement personnel, stating, “Threats against our law enforcement officers are completely unacceptable. Anyone who threatens or puts a bounty on agents will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.”
