Tampa International Airport (TPA) will not show a Department of Homeland Security video from Secretary Kristi Noem that blames Democrats for the ongoing federal government shutdown. Airport officials, however, said the decision has nothing to do with politics.

TPA Communications Manager Beau Zimmer told Florida Politics that the airport “does not currently have video screens at our TSA security checkpoints” and that its terminal screens “display static images only.” The video, first reported by Fox News, begins with travel guidance but shifts to say Democrats “refuse to fund the federal government,” resulting in unpaid TSA employees.

Airports in Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas, North Carolina, and New York have also declined to air the video, some citing Hatch Act concerns prohibiting political activity by federal employees. Denver International Airport said it lacks audio-capable screens, while Colorado Springs officials said the video violates its advertising policy.

The shutdown, now in its 14th day, has led to nearly 30,000 flight delays nationwide. TPA reported minimal disruptions but said it is assisting unpaid TSA and air traffic staff with local aid programs.
