CINCINNATI, Ohio — Cincinnati police and the U.S. Secret Service are investigating an overnight incident involving property damage at the Cincinnati residence of Vice President JD Vance, according to law enforcement officials and local reports.
Officers were dispatched shortly after midnight following a report of a disturbance at the East Walnut Hills home associated with the vice president. Multiple windows at the residence were found shattered, and police confirmed that Secret Service personnel alerted local authorities to a suspect fleeing eastbound from the scene around 12:15 a.m.
According to the Secret Service, the suspect was detained by federal agents and later taken into custody by Cincinnati police. Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said the individual was arrested for causing property damage, including breaking exterior windows of a residence linked to the vice president. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has been notified, and charges are pending as the investigation continues.
Authorities said no one was inside the home at the time of the incident. Vance had been in Cincinnati with his family over the past week but departed Sunday afternoon, hours before the vandalism occurred.
Police maintained a presence at the residence for several hours overnight as investigators assessed the damage and coordinated with federal officials. No motive has been released, and officials have not disclosed additional details about the suspect.
