Federal authorities arrested Tyler Maxon Avalos, 29, in Minnesota after he allegedly posted a TikTok offering a $45,000 bounty for former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, according to a federal affidavit. The post included a “wanted dead or alive” image of Bondi, with the caption “When they don’t serve us, then what?” and a cash reward amounting to $45,000.
The FBI said the post constituted an interstate threat to injure another person, a federal offense carrying a potential prison sentence. Avalos’ account reportedly linked to “An Anarchist FAQ,” and he has a multistate criminal record, including felony stalking and domestic battery.
Avalos appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas Micko, who granted conditional release with strict limitations, including GPS monitoring, mental health treatment, and a ban on internet use except for approved purposes. His attorney, Daniel Gerdts, stated Avalos “is not guilty of any crime.”
The incident comes amid rising political violence. A Pew Research Center poll found 85% of Americans believe threats against public figures are increasing. Bondi has not publicly responded to the alleged threat.
