More than 2,600 peaceful demonstrations are planned across the United States and abroad Saturday as part of “No Kings Day,” a nationwide protest movement opposing what organizers call the Trump administration’s “authoritarian excesses and corruption.”

The coalition—comprised of groups like MoveOn, Indivisible, and Public Citizen—expects millions to participate, with major rallies in Washington, D.C., and state capitals nationwide. Eunic Epstein-Ortiz, a national spokesperson, said volunteers have mobilized “to make this the largest single-day protest in modern history.”

Events are planned in all 50 states, including large turnouts expected in Michigan, Arizona, Kentucky, and Maine. Demonstrators in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas will face local restrictions, while others in Arkansas may contend with severe weather.

The movement builds on the first No Kings protests in June, which coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday military parade. The current demonstrations also come amid a federal government shutdown and National Guard deployments to U.S. cities.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) dismissed the protests as “hate America rallies,” accusing participants of aligning with “pro-Hamas” groups. Organizers rejected that characterization, calling it a smear intended to justify further crackdowns on dissent.

“America doesn’t have kings,” said Leah Greenberg of Indivisible. “Millions are marching because the power belongs to the people.”
