Atlanta, Georgia — Newly unsealed court documents have sparked fresh scrutiny of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s presence at an FBI search of a Fulton County voting center, with Democrats arguing the case relies on widely debunked claims about the 2020 election.
According to reporting from The Hill, the affidavit behind the search warrant credited Kurt Olsen, a Trump ally deeply involved in post-2020 election challenges, with initiating the referral that led to the federal probe. The document itself notes that some of the allegations forwarded have been “disproven.”
Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) questioned why the nation’s top intelligence official was present at the execution of a domestic search warrant with “no foreign intelligence nexus.” Warner and Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) have requested a formal briefing, citing conflicting explanations about Gabbard’s role.
Olsen previously pressed the Justice Department to challenge the 2020 results and later represented former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake in unsuccessful election lawsuits. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) criticized the renewed focus on what he called “baseless and repackaged claims.”
The White House has defended Gabbard’s involvement, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying election security falls squarely within her responsibilities. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said it will respond to congressional inquiries through appropriate channels.
