A TikTok personality from Los Angeles, known for livestreaming law enforcement activities, was shot and arrested on Tuesday during an immigration operation. Carlitos Ricardo Parias, 44, reportedly rammed his vehicle into federal agents’ vehicles while attempting to evade arrest on an immigration warrant. He is a Mexican citizen living in the U.S. without legal status and was shot in the elbow; he remains hospitalized but is reported to be in stable condition.

Parias now faces charges of assaulting a federal officer. His attorney, Carlos Jurado, stated that he and Parias’ family have been denied access to visit him. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, agents fired their weapons after Parias collided with their vehicles in an attempt to escape. One deputy U.S. marshal involved in the operation was hit in the hand by a ricocheting bullet.

With over 340,000 followers on TikTok, Parias often shares videos that document police and immigration enforcement actions in South Los Angeles. Local officials and community advocates have noted that his coverage has provided important information to residents concerned about immigration enforcement. Legal observers point out that the incident underscores the increasing tensions between immigration authorities and independent citizen journalists who document enforcement activities throughout Southern California.
