A Palm Coast, Florida, woman has been arrested for allegedly posing as a licensed nurse and treating more than 4,400 patients without proper credentials.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Autumn Bardisa was taken into custody Tuesday on seven counts of practicing a health care profession without a license and seven counts of fraudulent use of personal identification. The arrest followed a seven-month investigation that began after AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway reported she had used another nurse’s license number to secure employment.
Bardisa was hired as an advanced nurse technician in July 2023 and claimed to have passed her licensing exam, presenting credentials with a different last name. She attributed the discrepancy to a recent marriage but never produced a marriage license. Hospital officials discovered she was using an expired certified nursing assistant license and later determined she had stolen the identity of a nurse at another AdventHealth facility.
Sheriff Rick Staly called the case “one of the most disturbing” medical fraud incidents his office has investigated. Bardisa is being held on $70,000 bond.
