NEWARK, N.J. — Federal authorities have arrested and charged a 51-year-old California man accused of attacking the New Jersey office of Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba earlier this week. The FBI identified the suspect as Keith Lisa, who was taken into custody Saturday after a multistate manhunt.
According to the FBI, Lisa allegedly entered the Peter W. Rodino Federal Building in Newark on Wednesday carrying a bat and was denied entry. He later returned without the weapon and vandalized Habba’s office, prompting an arrest warrant for possession of a dangerous weapon in a federal facility and depredation of federal property. Habba was in her office during the first incident but was unharmed.
Attorney General Pam Bondi thanked federal agencies on X for capturing the suspect, writing, “No one will get away with threatening or intimidating our great U.S. Attorneys.” Habba called the attack “frightening” in an interview with Fox News, saying, “All we are doing is serving our country… It won’t deter us.”
Lisa is being held pending an initial court appearance. The FBI said he should be considered dangerous prior to his capture.
