Minneapolis, Minnesota — Viral social media posts have fueled claims that Sweet Angel Child Care was fraudulent after screenshots showed its Google listing displaying a phone number linked to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s office. Commentators, including Nick Shirley, argued the number proved the daycare was fake or part of a broader fraud scheme tied to state funding.

The claim centers on the number (651) 201-3400, which does reach the governor’s office. However, the allegation omits key context. That same number appears on Minnesota Department of Human Services licensing records as the state contact for licensed child care facilities. Sweet Angel Child Care is an actively licensed provider under License #1104314, and the phone number shown was associated with the licensing authority, not the business itself.

Google Business Profiles often pull information automatically from government databases. In this case, the platform appears to have mistakenly scraped the state’s licensing contact number and displayed it as the daycare’s phone number. Similar errors have been documented with other regulated businesses, including medical offices and contractors.

Independent third-party directories list Sweet Angel Child Care’s actual phone number as (612) 721-1133. There is no evidence the daycare submitted the governor’s office number or attempted to mislead the public. Google has since removed the phone number from the listing entirely, a common step after corrections are flagged.

Minnesota regulators have addressed the broader allegations. According to local reporting, the daycare holds an active license, has undergone inspections, and has not been cited for fraud. Claims portraying the phone number as proof of wrongdoing are misleading and unsupported by available evidence.
