Las Vegas, Nevada — Federal and local authorities are investigating a possible biological laboratory discovered inside a Las Vegas home that may be connected to an illegal medical lab previously uncovered in California, according to reporting by Nexstar’s 8 News Now Investigators.

Police and the FBI executed a search warrant early Saturday at a residence on Sugar Springs Drive, where officers reported finding a “possible biological laboratory,” including refrigerators containing vials of unknown liquids. A Metro SWAT team assisted in the search, and a second location was also investigated, though no lab was found there.

Investigators say county records link the Las Vegas property to a limited liability company that shares a name with a business involved in an ongoing federal case in Reedley, California. In that case, federal prosecutors charged a Chinese national with manufacturing and distributing misbranded medical devices. Authorities previously raided the Reedley site in Fresno County, where officials reported discovering thousands of vials containing unlabeled fluids, biological samples, and materials labeled with pathogens such as HIV, malaria, and dengue fever.

According to a federal report from the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, investigators also found laboratory mice and other materials raising concerns about potential biohazards. The man connected to the California case remains in federal custody and is listed as the registered agent for the Nevada-based company tied to the Las Vegas home.

Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said one person was taken into custody during Saturday’s raid, though no charges had been filed as of Sunday. Authorities stated there is no ongoing threat to the public, and samples seized from the Las Vegas home will be sent to the FBI for testing.
