ATLANTA, GEORGIA — The Georgia State Elections Board voted to issue a formal letter of reprimand to Elon Musk’s America PAC after determining the group sent partially prefilled absentee ballot applications to voters during the 2024 election cycle.
According to board officials, the Georgia secretary of state’s office launched an investigation in October 2024 after residents in multiple counties reported receiving absentee ballot applications that already included portions of their personal information. State law prohibits individuals or entities, other than authorized relatives, from sending voters prefilled absentee ballot applications.
Janice Johnston, vice chair of the State Elections Board, said evidence suggested America PAC violated that statute. She also stated the mailers failed to clearly disclose that they were not official government documents or ballots. The board voted to issue a reprimand letter rather than pursue stronger penalties.
The matter arises as national attention has focused on election integrity in Georgia, a key battleground state. President Trump recently referenced investigations into potential election interference in Fulton County.
The reprimand does not allege altered ballots or vote tabulation misconduct but centers on improper absentee ballot application practices under state law.
