Nearly 10,000 minks, creatures known for their luxurious, silky pelts, have died in the past two weeks at nine fur farms in Utah, the state veterinarian told NBC News. The outbreak has forced affected sites to quarantine as the state veterinarian investigates.
Minks join a list of more than 50 animals, including cats, dogs, tigers and lions, that have contracted Covid-19 in the U.S., according to Department of Agriculture data.
