Media Bias Fact Check has completed an initial review of the new social media platform GETTR. GETTR was founded by Jason Miller, a former spokesman for former President Trump, and hailed it as a “proMaga free speech platform.” However, at this time, Donald Trump has not signed up.
According to MBFC, “GETTR was founded a year ago as a Chinese-language social media network owned by Exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui. At that time, GETTR was linked to G-TV Media (Gnews), which both Steve Bannon and Guo also own to promote anti-Chinese Communist Party content.”
GETTR is designed to be a Twitter clone but allows up to 777 characters, which is the only difference between the two.
In signing up and reviewing the platform, Media Bias Fact Check determined that popular, credible media sources have not signed up to GETTR yet, but many far-right questionable sources have such as One America News, Newstarget, Newsmax, and Breitbart. Ultimately, MBFC states GETTR is a low credibility source.
