Steven Cappuccio of Texas was sentenced to 85 months in prison for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot. He was convicted of six felonies, including forcibly removing a Capitol Police officer’s gas mask and striking him with a baton.
U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, also ordered 24 months of supervised release. The officer, Daniel Hodges, stated in court that Cappuccio’s actions could have been lethal.
Cappuccio was sentenced alongside Federico Klein, a former Trump administration official, who received nearly six years. Nearly 1,200 individuals have been charged in relation to the insurrection, with over 800 guilty pleas or convictions.
