Initially critical of Israeli leadership following Hamas attacks on October 7, he later reaffirmed support for Israel. Trump indicated a tougher stance against Iran, Hamas’s backer, while suggesting the conflict might need to unfold naturally.
Trump’s comments contrast with President Biden’s approach, particularly on hostage negotiations involving Israelis and Americans. Trump criticized Biden’s handling, noting the initial exclusion of American hostages in releases, a situation that changed with the release of American Israeli Abigail Idan.
Trump’s potential actions might have involved direct negotiations with Qatar for American hostages’ release. In contrast, Biden has been actively involved in brokering regional deals.

Domestically, Trump has been vocal against pro-Palestinian protests in the U.S., proposing to revoke visas of radical anti-American and antisemitic foreign students. His administration’s response to protests, such as during the George Floyd demonstrations, suggests a potential strong reaction to major pro-Palestinian protests. In contrast, the Biden administration has defended peaceful protests while condemning antisemitic incidents on college campuses.
