According to a Quinnipiac University poll, 84% of Americans express concern over potential U.S. involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The poll, conducted from October 26-30 with 1,610 registered voters, indicates varying levels of worry across political lines, with 52% of Republicans and 30% of Democrats being very concerned.
Antisemitism is perceived as a serious issue by 75% of respondents, marking a record high. In response, the Biden administration has initiated measures to combat antisemitism, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre condemning any antisemitic threats or incidents.
The poll also highlights differing opinions on foreign aid: 71% support humanitarian aid to Gaza, while military aid has a narrower margin of approval, with 51% in favor of sending military equipment to Israel. Opinions on aid to Ukraine show a similar divide, with 53% support overall. President Biden recently announced an additional $425 million in aid for Ukraine. The survey’s margin of error is plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
