Donald Trump said Tuesday he has been notified by special counsel Jack Smith that he’s a criminal target of the ongoing investigation into his effort to subvert the 2020 election.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said he received the “target letter” on Sunday night, offering him a chance to speak to the grand jury, which meets at the federal courthouse in Washington D.C., later this week.
It’s the clearest sign yet that Smith is close to seeking an indictment for Trump, though the specific crimes he’s considering are not clear.
