Prosecutors claim a Donald Trump campaign worker attempted to incite a riot to halt the 2020 vote counting in Michigan. This individual, newly mentioned in the case and not among the six co-conspirators, was allegedly involved in efforts to prevent Joe Biden’s presidency. Special Counsel Jack Smith’s court filing to Judge Tanya Chutkan reveals that this Trump campaign employee exchanged texts with a campaign attorney at Detroit’s TCF Center on November 4, 2020, urging rioting and obstruction as the vote count favored Biden.
Parts of the filing are redacted, leaving some details of the Detroit allegations unclear. The campaign worker’s identity remains unknown, differentiated from previously mentioned unindicted co-conspirators. The filing also notes that as Biden gained the lead, numerous untrained individuals aggressively disrupted the vote count at the TCF Center. Trump, indicted on four counts related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, has pleaded not guilty, dismissing the charges as part of a political witch hunt. Trump’s attorney has been contacted for comment.
