The Colorado Supreme Court, in a 4-3 ruling, removed Trump from the state’s Republican primary ballot under the 14th Amendment’s “insurrection clause,” stating Trump had incited an insurrection on January 6, 2021. The court highlighted the gravity of their decision, emphasizing their commitment to applying the law impartially.
The debate over Trump’s eligibility for the ballot has caused a split among Democrats. Congressman Dean Phillips, challenging President Biden for the Democratic nomination, voiced opposition to barring Trump without a conviction, asserting the need for a Supreme Court opinion on the matter.
