Presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) recently criticized President Biden’s handling of the southern border. Speaking in New Hampshire, Phillips stated, “Right now, having been to the southern border twice, it is not secure. It is inhumane. It is not fair to those who are seeking refuge.” Phillips launched his primary campaign with the aim to unseat President Biden and expressed that the Biden administration has not managed the southern border effectively.

Phillips also addressed the issue of international aid, stating it often fuels corruption. “It’s wasted. It fuels corruption in a lot of places. Why do we not invest in the very countries from which migrants are coming because they’re persecuted, feel unsafe, or have no opportunity,” he said. He suggested using American resources to invest in those countries to provide safety and opportunities for their citizens.

In a CBS News interview, Phillips praised President Biden for his past work but emphasized that the upcoming election is about the future. He is currently the only notable primary challenge to Biden for the 2024 election.
