According to a November 2023 NBC News poll, 52% of Americans report that either they or someone in their household owns a gun. This figure represents the highest level of gun ownership recorded in an NBC News poll, exceeding the previous peak of 46% in 2019.
The poll also indicates a rise in gun ownership among Democrats and Independents, with ownership rates at 41% for Democrats and 49% for Independents in 2023.
