John Turscak, a former Mexican Mafia member, has been charged with attempted murder following his attack on Derek Chauvin, in which Chauvin was stabbed 22 times. Chauvin, serving a sentence for the murder of George Floyd, survived the attack and is in stable condition. Turscak, who initially admitted to intending to kill Chauvin but later denied it, had been planning the attack for over a month, reportedly to make a symbolic statement in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison expressed deep concern over the incident, emphasizing the necessity for Chauvin to serve his sentence in a safe environment, free from violence.
