House Democrats have ceased using the term “Bidenomics,” a White House-coined phrase intended to define President Biden’s economic policies. This shift comes as the party prepares for the 2024 elections amidst widespread voter dissatisfaction with the economy.
Key Democratic fundraising groups, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and House Majority PAC, have also avoided the term in their communications. Instead, House Democrats have adopted the slogan “People Over Politics,” as “Bidenomics” was perceived as disconnected from the economic realities of voters and overly complex.
Despite this, many of the policies associated with “Bidenomics” remain central to the Democrats’ agenda. The term’s decline in usage reflects broader concerns within the party about effective economic messaging, a challenge that echoes past struggles faced by Democrats, including during former President Obama’s tenure.
The White House remains confident in its economic messaging, despite internal party critiques and a preference for reframing the economic discussion away from a singular focus on President Biden.
