Russian authorities have closed the criminal investigation into the armed rebellion led by mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, with no charges against him or any other participants.
The Kremlin has pledged not to prosecute Prigozhin and his fighters after he stopped the revolt on Saturday, despite the charge of mounting an armed mutiny carrying a punishment of up to 20 years in prison.
The whereabouts of Prigozhin remain unknown, but he has reportedly defended his actions in a defiant audio statement. At the same time, Putin sought to project stability and control in a nationally televised speech.
