Many Americans are already subscribed to multiple services such as Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Walmart, and others, each with its own fees. However, they may soon face another fee.
Elon Musk, while speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, revealed that his company X (formerly known as Twitter) is planning to introduce a small monthly payment for the use of the X system. This move is intended to combat the use of bots on the platform. No further details have been shared regarding the cost, timeline, or specifics of the change.
Musk did claim that X has 550 million monthly users but did not disclose the number of bots on the platform. It is not the first time Musk has considered a paywall for X, as the platform already has a subscription service, X Premium (previously known as Twitter Blue), which starts at $8 per month and provides additional features.
During Netanyahu’s visit to California to discuss antisemitism on X, he and Musk also discussed artificial intelligence and Netanyahu’s judicial overhaul in Israel during a sparsely attended livestream event. Musk has recently faced accusations of tolerating antisemitic messages on his social media platform, while Netanyahu is dealing with political opposition at home and abroad.
