Social media users criticized Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene for politicizing the anniversary of 9/11 to criticize the Biden administration’s handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Her motive was questioned, and she faced backlash for previously floating conspiracy theories about 9/11. Although she walked back on those remarks to avoid losing her committee assignments, her recent comments about states considering secession due to border policies have also drawn attention.

“If the Biden admin refuses to stop the invasion of cartel led human and drug trafficking into our country, states should consider seceding from the union,” wrote Greene, a close ally of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Cities like New York and Chicago are experiencing resource strains and budget cuts due to the influx of immigrants, while Texas has bused a small fraction of released immigrants to “sanctuary” locations, leaving the whereabouts of millions unknown.
