Last year, Elon Musk declined a request from Ukraine to activate Starlink in Sevastopol, Crimea’s port city. Musk was concerned that activating the satellite network could potentially lead to a major act of war.
Specifically, he was worried that a Ukrainian attack on Russian warships could provoke a nuclear war. This decision was made because Starlink was designed for peaceful activities. However, SpaceX has been providing Starlink internet service to Ukrainians and their military since the start of the war in 2022.
