The founder of Project Veritas, a conservative nonprofit known for its hidden camera stings, is being investigated by the Westchester County district attorney’s office over allegations of mistreating workers and misspending organization funds.

James O’Keefe, the former chairman and CEO, was suspended in February and later fired after being accused of spending an “excessive amount of donor funds” on personal luxuries, according to the Project Veritas board.
