State legislators in Connecticut are prioritizing the establishment of AI regulations within their own government before applying them to private companies. Their goal is to evaluate all government systems utilizing AI by 2023 and conduct ongoing assessments to prevent discrimination.

This year, at least 25 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia have proposed legislation related to AI, with 14 states and Puerto Rico already enacting it. Certain states have formed advisory committees to examine and oversee AI systems employed by state agencies.
