Federal prosecutors have charged former President Donald Trump with conspiring to seize a second term after losing the 2020 election, a grave indictment that accuses the former president of seeking to derail the transfer of power to President Joe Biden.
In a 45-page indictment, special counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with four felony counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding. Trump “pursued unlawful means of discounting legitimate votes and subverting the election results,” the indictment says
