Tropical Storm Ian, which formed in the Caribbean, is set to intensify to a category 4 hurricane in the next few days. Ian’s path is expected to cross over Cuba and then turn towards Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis (Florida) has declared a state of emergency for (24) counties.
President Biden also issued a state of emergency for Florida and canceled his planned campaign event there.
At 5 p.m. ET, Tropical Storm Ian was located about 255 miles south of Kingston, Jamaica, and was moving west at 16 mph. Maximum sustained winds were at 45 mph.
