Former Vice President Joe Biden will not travel to Milwaukee to formally accept the presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention because of concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, the Democratic National Committee said Wednesday.
Biden will accept his nomination virtually from his home state of Delaware, the DNC said. The other scheduled speakers, including Biden’s eventual running mate, will now address the convention, which will run from Aug. 17-20, remotely as well, the committee said.
The announcement marks an even more scaled-down event after the committee in June told delegates to stay home because of health concerns.
